Investment and Expansion

Haldor Topsøe A/S has officially opened a significant extension of its catalyst plant in Frederikssund, Denmark. This expansion, which includes a new production unit named "P6," represents an investment exceeding DKK 300 million (40 mEuro). The plant, along with another in Houston, Texas, forms the company's primary global production facilities.

Construction Timeline

Ground-breaking for the P6 unit began in October 2012, and the 2,400 sq.m. premises were completed by May of the following year. After installing new production equipment, the plant is now ready to commence production.

Production Focus

The new P6 unit will focus on producing catalysts used by refineries worldwide to manufacture ultra-low sulfur diesel. This aligns with the company's growth strategy and projections for increased demand for cleaner fuels that reduce sulfur emissions and other harmful substances.

Job Creation

The expansion will create 27 new jobs at the Frederikssund plant, bringing the total workforce to 700 employees. Topsøe is the largest private employer in Frederikssund, with nearly half of its employees being local residents.

Global Strategy

While expanding in Denmark, Topsøe is also growing its presence in other markets. The company has commenced construction of a large plant in Tianjin, China, and has significantly extended its capacity in Houston, Texas. Localized production in countries like China and Brazil is crucial for market success.
