Inauguration and Plant Details
Woikoski Ltd's new hydrogen plant was inaugurated in Kokkola on November 12th. The facility features three separate hydrogen production lines and a hydrogen container filling station. The hydrogen produced is primarily supplied to Freeport Cobalt, located in the same industrial area, for use in cobalt manufacturing, which is essential for mobile phone and laptop batteries.
Engineering and Collaboration
The basic and detailed engineering of the hydrogen plant was a collaborative effort between Woikoski and CTS Engtec. All planning disciplines of CTS Engtec were involved in the project, ensuring seamless integration of various functions. CTS Engtec managed the entire plant data model, interfaces to the existing air separation plant, and various engineering tasks including piping, steel structure, HVAC, process, automation, and electrical design.
Project Management and Integration
CTS Engtec was responsible for project management, working closely with Woikoski experts. They handled the integration of Chinese and Italian automation systems into the plant's monitoring system, as well as the building's HVAC engineering and pressure vessel examinations. The company also assisted in acquiring surveys and contracts throughout the project.
Data Model Utilization
A key aspect of the project was the use of a 3D-based data model, inspired by the Air Gas Plant project in Kokkola. Managed by CTS Engtec, this data model contained all project information and documentation, facilitating the installation process significantly. The model was used extensively from the initial commenting phase to the installation of equipment, piping, electrical, automation, and HVAC systems.
