Borealis allocates EUR 17.6 million to reduce CO2 emissions, energy consumption, and flaring at Finland plant

Borealis is investing EUR 17.6 million in a new Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) for its polyolefins plants in Porvoo, Finland. The RTO will lower CO2 emissions, reduce flaring, and save 60 GWh of energy annually. Borealis aims to improve energy efficiency by 20% by 2030 and reduce CO2 emissions. The RTO will generate steam to replace 50% of the heat energy currently required for operations. The investment will also help achieve zero continuous flaring and reduce emissions by 6,000 tons per year. Borealis is committed to finding innovative ways to reduce its environmental footprint and protect the climate.
