Inauguration Event

The Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, inaugurated ILBOC’s new generation lube base oils plant in Cartagena. The event was attended by key figures including Repsol Chairman Antonio Brufau, SK Group Chairman Tae Won Chey, and the Ambassador from South Korea, Hee-Kwon Park.

Plant Capacity and Production

ILBOC’s facility is the largest production plant of new generation lube base oils in Europe, with a capacity of 630,000 tons per year. The plant produces high-quality Group 3 lube base oils, which are essential for Euro VI engines and contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Market and Distribution

The plant primarily serves the European market, covering 40% of the demand for Group 3 lube base oils. ILBOC also produces Group 2 lube base oils for other markets. Deliveries are made by tank trucks and ships, increasing bulk liquid cargo transport by around 500,000 tons per year.

Employment and Construction

Built in 2012, ILBOC directly employs 90 people and indirectly supports over 100 additional jobs through service providers. The plant's construction and operation highlight the successful collaboration between Repsol and SK Group.
