ILBOC (Iberian Lube Base Oils Company, S.A.) is a Spanish producer of base oils formed as a joint venture between Repsol and SK Lubricants. The company operates a large-scale facility in Cartagena, adjacent to Repsol’s refinery, dedicated to manufacturing high-quality Group II and Group III base oils using advanced hydrocracking and hydroisomerization technologies.
ILBOC’s products supply lubricant manufacturers in Europe and beyond for automotive and industrial applications, serving as key components in modern, low-viscosity engine oils and other performance lubricants. With integrated port and road access, the site supports bulk deliveries by ship and tanker. The company emphasizes consistent quality and alignment with evolving specifications for contemporary engine oils and emissions requirements.
The new plant, producing high-quality lube base oils for Euro VI engines, has a capacity of 630,000 tons/year, covering 40% of European demand and increasing bulk liquid cargo transport.
The new Cartagena plant, Europe's largest, produces 630,000 tons of high-quality base lubricants annually. Built with a €250M investment, it meets ISO 9001 standards and supports Euro VI engines.
