Project Overview
Nestlé UK and Ireland is partnering with Plastic Energy to explore the development of a large-scale chemical recycling plant in the UK. This facility aims to recycle hard-to-recycle plastic waste into food-grade materials.
Feasibility Study
A preliminary feasibility study, partially funded by Nestlé, will be conducted by Plastic Energy. The study is set to begin in early November and will take approximately six months to complete.
Recycling Technology
Plastic Energy's technology transforms difficult-to-recycle plastics, such as confectionery wrappers and pet food pouches, into recycled oils called TACOIL. These oils can replace fossil oils in the production of new food-grade plastics.
Existing Operations
Plastic Energy already operates two similar recycling plants in Spain, utilizing their specialist technology to support a circular economy for plastics.
