Moeve surpasses 2030 waste circularity goal and prevents 32,163 tons of waste
- Recorded a 55% increase in circularity intensity of operational waste at Palos (Huelva) and San Roque (Cádiz), exceeding its 2030 target by 5%.
- Since 2019, minimized, recycled and recovered 32,163 tonnes of operational waste—equivalent to waste from about 10,852 people over the same period.
- Collaboration with Saint‑Gobain Weber’s Zero Waste Table reused over 2,500 tonnes of spent catalysts (2022–June 2026) to produce 110,000 tonnes of mortar for tile installation, façades and rehabilitation.
- Met a 21% reduction in freshwater intake in water‑stressed Spanish areas by 2025 and committed to a further 25% cut by 2028 across facilities in Spain, Brazil, Canada and China.
Achievement and scale
Moeve consolidated first‑half 2026 data showing a 55% increase in the circularity intensity of operational waste at its energy parks and chemical plants in Palos and San Roque, surpassing the 2030 target set in 2023 by 5%. Since 2019 the company reports 32,163 tonnes of waste minimised, recycled or recovered, equivalent to the waste produced by about 10,852 people over the same period.
Industrial symbiosis and partners
The Zero Waste Table, a cross‑cutting working group, has driven industrial symbiosis projects. From 2022 to June 2026 Moeve and Saint‑Gobain Weber reused more than 2,500 tonnes of spent catalysts to produce 110,000 tonnes of mortar. Moeve also works with RECASA under the Ministry’s Pact for a Circular Economy and with Geocycle (Holcim Group), using pretreatment infrastructure such as the Almería plant to transform waste and support decarbonisation goals.
Strategy, water, biodiversity and projects
The Circular Economy Strategy rests on waste, water and biodiversity commitments. The company achieved a 21% reduction in freshwater intake in water‑stressed Spanish areas by 2025 and has committed to cut intake by a further 25% by 2028 across its controlled facilities. Moeve cites biodiversity integration and TNFD analysis, and outlines projects including a planned 2G biofuel plant in Huelva using non‑food organic waste and recovered water, biomethane plants for agricultural and livestock residues, and a new IPA plant in Palos designed to accept bio, biocircular and circular feedstocks and run on renewable energy.
