- The plant is part of a €100 million global R&D program.
- It will develop products incorporating plastic waste.
- The Recycl-IN polymer range includes up to 50% Post-Consumer Recycled plastic.
- The plant supports a circular approach to polymer production.
New Polymer Pilot Plant
INEOS has inaugurated its advanced polymer pilot plant in Rosignano, Italy. This facility aims to develop and produce advanced products incorporating plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or incineration. One notable application includes lightweight car parts.
Sustainability and Circular Economy
The plant supports a more sustainable and circular approach to polymer production, reducing CO2 emissions and redirecting plastic waste back into valuable polymer products. This initiative is part of INEOS’s global €100 million research and development program, which benefits INEOS customers worldwide.
Leadership Statements
Dr. Gerd Franken, Chairman of INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe and INEOS Polyolefins Catalyst, emphasized that the pilot plant will help utilize increasing amounts of plastic waste for new high-value polymers, aligning with the circular economy. Dr. Iain Hogan, CEO of INEOS Olefins & Polymers South, expressed gratitude to regional and local authorities for their support and highlighted the investment's significance for the Rosignano site and INEOS O&P.
Recycl-IN Polymer Range
Earlier this month, INEOS Olefins & Polymers introduced the Recycl-IN polymer range, which contains up to 50% Post-Consumer Recycled plastic compounded with new, highly engineered virgin polymers.
