- The plant's production capacity is 2,600 tons of fertilizer per day.
- The investment budget was PLN 430 million (about 97 million Euro).
- The ammonium nitrate line produces 1,200 tons per day, and the nitro chalk line produces 1,400 tons per day.
- The project includes logistics, raw material processing, packaging, and storage facilities.
Plant Overview
Grupa Azoty 'Puławy' has initiated the start-up of a granulated ammonium nitrate fertilizer plant. The facility features two production lines with a combined capacity of 2,600 tons per day, equating to up to 820,000 tons annually. This development aims to meet the increasing demand from large-scale agriculture.
Investment and Capacity
The project required an investment of PLN 430 million (approximately 97 million Euro). The production line for granulated ammonium nitrate (AN - 32% N) can produce 1,200 tons per day, while the nitro chalk line (CAN - 27% N) can produce 1,400 tons per day. The project also includes logistics and associated facilities for raw material processing, packaging, and storage of finished products.
Technological Advancements
The use of granules with a larger diameter improves efficiency, especially on large farms, due to a wider spreading range. This type of product is preferred by foreign customers and is expected to see growing demand in Poland due to land consolidation. The mechanical granulation process used in the new plant allows for a more diverse composition of fertilizers compared to the previously used tower granulation method. This process is also more environmentally friendly and safer for transport.
Future Prospects
Following the modernization and expansion of the nitric acid plant in 2021, Grupa Azoty Puławy is set to become the most modern nitrogen complex in Europe. The new production line not only enhances the business potential of Puławy but also strengthens the entire Azoty Group.
