The Management Board of CIECH S.A. has initiated the preparatory stage for constructing a new evaporated salt production plant in Stassfurt, Germany, near the existing soda plant. The investment is valued at approximately 100 million Euros. The final decision will be made within the next few quarters, contingent on market conditions, administrative approvals, and public aid from German authorities.

Market Research and Capacity

In-depth market and technological research, supported by reputable advisory firms, have preliminarily confirmed the project's attractiveness. The new plant is planned to have a production capacity of 450,000 tons of dry salt annually, compared to the 600,000 tons produced by the Janikowo plant in Poland. The Stassfurt plant will target West European markets, while the Janikowo plant will focus on Central European and Scandinavian markets.

Preparatory Stage Activities

The preparatory stage includes tendering procedures for key technology bids, plant design documentation, and obtaining necessary administrative decisions. The plant is expected to employ about 100 people upon completion.

Ongoing Developments

CIECH Group has been expanding its salt business, investing in production capacity and portfolio growth. Recent investments include PLN 30 million for new products like dishwasher salt and salt licks for breeding animals. The Group also offers food-grade salt and has recently started distributing Himalayan and marine salt.

Presence in Germany

CIECH Group has been active in Germany for 10 years, following the acquisition of the Sodawerk plant, now CIECH Soda Deutschland. Over this period, the Group has invested EUR 100 million in Germany, including expanding soda ash and purified soda production capacities.
