Capacity Expansion
On 9 October 2012, the Burghausen E-PVC plant in South-East Bavaria officially expanded its production capacity. The plant, already the world's largest for paste PVC, increased its output from 91,000 tons to 100,000 tons per year. This expansion further solidifies its leading position in the specialty PVC market.
Investment and Upgrades
The expansion at Burghausen was part of a gradual upgrade process over the last two years, with a total investment of about 9 million euros. In 2010, the capacity for lacquer resins at the Burghausen Copo-plant was also extended. These investments are aimed at meeting the growing demand for PVC products globally.
Global Market Focus
Key markets for the expanded production include Eastern Europe, Turkey, China, India, and Brazil. The products from the E-PVC plant are used in various applications such as vinyl wallpaper, flooring, artificial leather, textile membranes, and automotive interiors, and are exported worldwide. The rapidly growing demand in Russia and Ukraine is particularly significant, with additional momentum expected from the Chinese market.
Future Plans
With the completed expansion in Burghausen and a planned investment in Cologne for 2014, the total capacity for specialty PVC will increase to 520,000 tons per year. This strategic growth is aimed at leveraging the dynamic market opportunities and maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.
