Borealis Boosts Fibremod™ Capacity in Monza

At a glance
  • Monza facility's Fibremod PP-LGF capacity expands to 10 kilotonnes per year
  • Fibremod PP-LGF launched in 2013
  • Fibremod PP-LGF uses proprietary pultrusion technology
  • Reduced processing temperatures make Fibremod PP-LGF more energy-efficient

Expansion of Fibremod™ Capacity

The Monza production facility, known for its flexibility, initially added a Fibremod PP-LGF production line in 2013. To meet growing market demand for performance materials, the facility's total Fibremod LGF capacity is being increased to ten kilotonnes per year. This expansion aims to provide weight reduction, cost-competitiveness, and enhanced sustainability.

Fibremod Product Portfolio

The Fibremod PP-LGF product line offers superior mechanical performance, high purity, and excellent surface quality for various applications. The new capacity in Monza will enable the provision of further weight-saving solutions and an extended product portfolio.

Technological Innovation

Launched in 2013, the Fibremod family includes engineered short (SGF) and long (LGF) compounds. These materials are produced using proprietary pultrusion technology, ensuring high-quality glass fiber impregnation, ultra-broad molecular weight distribution, and increased fiber length in both pellets and final parts.

Environmental Benefits

Fibremod PP-LGF contributes to more environmentally friendly production by reducing processing temperatures, which in turn lowers energy consumption compared to alternatives like engineering plastics and metal.
