Grant and Investment
BOC has received a grant of over £600,000 from the Government’s Tees Valley Investment Programme to modernize and upgrade its facilities in Middlesbrough. This funding is part of a broader initiative announced by Business Secretary Lord Mandelson.
Facility Upgrades
The main Air Separation Unit (ASU) at the site will be refurbished to improve efficiency by integrating the latest technologies. The project aims to deliver energy savings of nearly 4MW and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 20,000 tonnes annually.
New Hydrogen Facility
In addition to the ASU upgrade, BOC is developing a new Trailer Hydrogen (TH) facility at Teesport. This facility will provide bulk hydrogen supplies to other businesses in the area, supporting the local industrial infrastructure and new green business opportunities.
Economic Impact
The upgrades and new developments are crucial to BOC’s long-term strategy in the region. The projects will directly protect 40 jobs at BOC and support several other businesses in the area, aligning with the needs of the existing industrial base and future green initiatives.
