BASF Expands Fungicide Production in Tarragona

BASF has opened a new fungicide production line at its agrochemicals formulation plant in Tarragona, Spain. This expansion, which involved a €21 million investment, will increase the site's fungicide production capacity by up to 25%.

Production Capabilities

The new facility will manufacture over 60 different fungicide formulations. These products will be packaged, labeled, and exported to various global markets. The fungicides are designed to protect crops such as cereals, fruits, and vegetables, utilizing modern and efficient active ingredients to ensure reliable disease control and promote sustainable agriculture.

Strategic Importance

This investment marks the most significant development at the Tarragona site in the past decade. The facility now ranks as BASF’s third largest formulation plant globally, following those in Brazil and North America, and the largest in Europe.

Job Creation

The expansion has also resulted in the creation of 30 new jobs at the Tarragona plant, enhancing the site's capacity to meet the demands of the volatile fungicide market.
