Expansion of Production Capacities
BASF is extending its production facilities for Laromer® UV/EB acrylates at its Ludwigshafen site in Germany. This expansion is part of BASF’s C3-Verbund system and aims to meet the rising demand for high-quality UV/EB acrylates. The additional production capacities will be available by the third quarter of 2016.
Response to Rising Demand
According to Ulf Neidlein, Vice President responsible for BASF’s resin and additive business in Europe, the global demand for UV/EB acrylates has significantly increased over the past few years. The investment in expanding production capacities is intended to enhance supply reliability and demonstrate BASF’s commitment to providing high-quality UV/EB acrylates to its customers.
Previous Capacity Enhancements
In response to the growing demand, BASF had already begun setting up additional capacities at its site in Meaux, France, early in 2014. This move was part of BASF’s strategy to strengthen its position as a leading manufacturer of UV/EB resins used as binders for energy-curable coatings and inks.
Applications of Laromer® Resins
Laromer® resins are utilized by customers as binders to formulate coatings for furniture and flooring, inks and overprint varnishes, as well as coatings for plastics and metal substrates. BASF also offers a broad portfolio of complementary resins, including polyisocyanates, dispersions, and additives, to support various industrial applications.
