Expansion of Twaron Production
Teijin Aramid is set to expand its aramid production capacity for Twaron at its Emmen facility in the Netherlands. The expansion will involve the implementation of new spinning technology, which is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2019.
Meeting Market Demand
The demand for Twaron, a high-performance para-aramid fiber, is on the rise. The new spinning technology will enable Teijin Aramid to increase production capacity to meet this growing market demand. The company has consistently invested 5% of its annual revenue into R&D activities to innovate and improve its aramid products.
Automation and Safety Improvements
The new technology will also enhance the automation of the spinning process, reducing the physical workload for operators. This aligns with Teijin Aramid’s goals to further automate production and improve Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) aspects.
Global Integration
As of April 1, 2017, Teijin consolidated all its aramid activities into a single global business unit. This reorganization places Teijin Aramid in charge of all aramid and polyethylene products, with production facilities in Thailand, Japan, and the Netherlands.
