- DOTP is a phthalate-free plasticizer used in various industries
Project Overview
Oxea has partnered with a German company to produce dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) in Europe. By 2019, Oxea will offer 60,000 metric tons of DOTP annually. The partner will construct a modular DOTP production unit at its site in Germany, with Oxea supplying the key precursor 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) and marketing the end product through its sales channels.
Environmental Compliance
DOTP is a phthalate-free plasticizer that meets high environmental standards. It serves as a replacement for dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and diisononyl phthalate (DINP) and is used in various applications, including construction, automotive, coatings, and flooring.
Market Impact
Currently, most DOTP in Europe is imported. This project will position Oxea as a major supplier of DOTP in Europe, enhancing delivery reliability and meeting customer needs sustainably. As the largest European producer of 2-EH, Oxea benefits from backward integration.
