Expansion of Specialty Polymers Plants
Royal DSM is expanding the capacity of its specialty polymers plants located in Emmen and Geleen, the Netherlands. This move is in response to the increasing demand for high temperature polyamides (PAs) and thermoplastic copolyesters (TPC).
Market Demand
The expansion is driven by solid growth in the consumer electronics and automotive markets. These sectors have shown a rising need for high performance plastics such as Stanyl® (PA46), ForTii® (PA4T), EcoPaXX® (PA410), and Arnitel® (TPC).
Capacity Increase
DSM Engineering Plastics has successfully completed expansion projects for its Stanyl, ForTii, and EcoPaXX product streams, resulting in a 50% increase in capacity. Additionally, the company is in the process of bringing 25% more Arnitel capacity online by 2018.
