Investment and Expansion
Sucre Océane, a bulk sugar logistics company in Le Havre, is investing €12.5 million to construct new capacities. This investment aims to prepare for the liberalization of the European sugar market starting 1 October.
Increased Handling Capacity
The company plans to triple its inbound and outbound handling capacities. With new equipment such as pit trucks, conveyor belts, and lifts, the handling rate is expected to reach 300 tons per hour. These installations include receiving pits, regulating hoppers, and bagging lines, targeting an export traffic increase to 7,000 containers from Le Havre.
Current and Future Operations
Established in 1987 by SHGT and the Euroports group, the Le Havre site currently employs fifteen people and plans to recruit more by the end of 2017. The site previously had a storage capacity of 45,000 tons, divided into three cells of 15,000 tons each.
Certifications and Packaging
Sucre Océane offers various sugar packaging options, including bulk liners, big bags, and 50 kg bags. The company has implemented a HACCP quality system to meet European customer requirements and has obtained AEO certification for customs simplification and supply chain security. Additionally, the site has achieved FSSC 22000 certification, representing excellence in agri-food safety.
