Investment and Strategic Plan
Eni will invest €125 million in its Versalis plant in Mantua as part of the Group’s 2014/17 four-year strategic plan. The investment aims to optimize industrial processes, achieve energy savings, and expand research and development into innovative products and technologies.
Meeting and Key Attendees
A meeting was held at the plant in Via Taliercio to emphasize the importance of the Versalis plant and its business opportunities in producing intermediates and styrenes. Attendees included Alberto Grandi, Councillor for Environmental Sustainability and Land Planning for the Province of Mantua; Francesco Manna, Eni’s Head of Relations for Local Organisations and Institutions; and Plant Manager Massimo Gialli.
Production and Employment
Versalis in Mantua develops various innovative products, including Extir® CM Galileo, an ultra-lightweight expandable polystyrene used for thermal insulation systems. The plant employs 962 people, and 155 new hires, over a third of whom are graduates, have been added in the past four years due to the expansion of the research structure.
Research and Development
The Claudio Buonerba Research Centre, located in Mantua, is a center of excellence for basic chemistry and plastics. It employs 200 researchers, technologists, and process engineers. The center spans 15 thousand square meters, housing ten laboratories and five pilot plants, and is the only Versalis research center working across all business lines.
