Investment and Development
Saltend Chemicals Park has undergone significant development with a £500 million investment over the past five years, transforming it into one of the Humber region’s largest industrial sites. The site is now a multi-operator hub, hosting eight businesses that share infrastructure, facilities, and utilities.
Key Milestones
Recent upgrades include a new visitor reception area and extensive rebranding efforts costing £500,000 to date. These changes aim to reinforce the park’s multi-operator status and attract further investment. The site now features a totem-style sign displaying the logos of all current businesses, with space for future additions.
Production and Capacity
Saltend Chemicals Park produces over a million tonnes of chemical products annually, serving the UK market and exporting to Europe. Key raw materials for everyday items such as clothing, packaging, inks, cosmetics, and fertilizers are manufactured on-site.
Renewable Technologies
The park is also becoming a center of excellence for renewable technologies. Vivergo Fuels has invested £350 million in a biorefinery, set to begin production later this year. The plant will convert 1.1 million tonnes of feed-grade wheat into 420 million liters of bioethanol and 500,000 tonnes of animal feed annually.
Strategic Location
Saltend’s strategic location near the Green Port Hull development and the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership enterprise zone positions it as a key player in the UK’s green energy sector. The site’s proximity to the region’s wheat belt and deep-water port facilities further enhances its appeal for biofuel production and export.
