Acquisition Details
The px group, based in Teesside, has agreed to acquire the Saltend Industrial Park near Hull from BP. The park offers energy, infrastructure, operations, and maintenance services to global companies such as Air Products, BP, Engie, INEOS, Nippon Gohsei, Perenco, Vivergo, and Yara.
Transition and Workforce
The full transition of the 370-acre tier one COMAH site to px is expected to be completed in the next few months, with around 50 BP workers transferring to px employment. Ensuring a safe changeover is the top priority, followed by plans to expand the park in collaboration with existing tenants.
BP's Continued Presence
BP will remain a significant tenant at the site, continuing to operate two acetyls plants, which are the largest producers of acetic acid in Europe. BP’s acetyls business in Hull is also a key player in petrochemicals research and technology, hosting one of the principal global research and technology centers for petrochemicals.
px Group's Expertise
Established in 2002, px has extensive experience in managing, operating, and maintaining large industrial facilities across Europe. Last year, px was awarded the contract to operate and maintain the St. Fergus gas processing plant in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Strategic Growth
In March 2016, px partnered with Blue Water Energy, a private equity energy fund, to embark on a strategic growth plan. This acquisition of Saltend Industrial Park is expected to accelerate px’s growth and expand its service offerings.
