Capacity Expansion

Nouryon has significantly increased the production capacity of its metal alkyls plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, by more than 40% over the past three years. This expansion is part of a series of investments aimed at meeting the growing demand from the polymer industry and improving supply reliability across Europe.

Automation and Efficiency

The latest investment includes the automation of raw material handling, which enhances overall efficiency and safety at the site by minimizing potential exposure risks. This automation also allows for the supply of materials in bulk, thereby reducing transportation costs.

Strategic Acquisition

In addition to the investments in the Rotterdam plant, Nouryon has strengthened its leadership position in the metal alkyls market through the acquisition of Zhejiang Friend Chemical Co. This company is the largest Chinese producer of triethyl aluminum (TEAL), a key metal alkyl used in the production of high-volume polymers such as polypropylene and polyethylene.
