Partnership Announcement
Microvast, Inc., a US-based traction battery solution provider, has announced a collaboration with FPT Industrial, a global brand of CNH Industrial specializing in powertrains. This partnership aims to develop and supply battery power systems and includes the establishment of Microvast's EMEA Central Production Plant in Ludwigsfelde, Germany.
Memorandum of Understanding
Microvast and FPT Industrial have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate both industrially and commercially. This agreement will enable FPT Industrial to design and assemble battery packs in-house at its Turin, Italy facility, to be used in CNH Industrial vehicles and offered to third-party customers.
Joint E-Platform
As part of the collaboration, the two companies will launch a joint e-platform to develop and industrialize complete electrified powertrain systems. These systems will be customized and sized for specific missions, aiming to ensure efficient performance for both on-road and off-road applications.
Factory Construction and Capacity
Microvast GmbH will begin constructing the Ludwigsfelde plant in April 2020, with completion expected by December 2020. The facility will cover 36,000 m2 and accommodate up to 250 employees. Initially, the plant will produce 1.5 GWh of battery modules and systems, with plans to scale up to 6 GWh in the coming years.
