Major Overhaul in 2018
In 2018, Lucite International's Cassel plant at Teesside, UK, underwent its largest overhaul to date. The project, which cost over £17 million ($20 million) and involved more than 1,000 contractors, was planned over three and a half years. The overhaul took place in March, coinciding with severe winter weather in the UK.
Focus on Continuous Improvement
Since becoming Overhaul Manager in 2014, Andy Brothwood has aimed to evolve the approach to overhauls at Cassel. His philosophy, encapsulated by the sign in his office, "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got," emphasizes the need for continuous improvement.
Enhanced Preparation and Specific Ownership
For the 2018 overhaul, greater emphasis was placed on the preparation phase than ever before. Specific owners were assigned to drive improvements in key areas such as Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE), Quality, Training, Operations, Planning, and Infrastructure.
