Ciba DPP pigments in Monthey, Switzerland

At the end of June 2004, Ciba Specialty Chemicals announced the completion of its 12 M project for a 20% expansion of its Diketo pyrrolo-pyrrole (DPP) pigments plant at Monthey. The company also announced that work would soon begin on a further expansion of DPP capacity at Monthey, with completion scheduled for the end of 2005. Ciba is also adding DPP capacity by debottlenecking at its Newport, DE, plant in the United States.

DPP is one of the most important new chromophores discovered in the past 25 years by Ciba researchers.DPP pigments are now used in plastic products, colour filters for LCD displays, automotive and industrial paints and printing inks.
