Expansion Overview

The Surface Treatment global business unit of BASF’s Coatings division, under the Chemetall brand, has inaugurated a new laboratory and office building in Langelsheim, Germany. This marks the completion of the expansion of the production site in Lower Saxony, which is dedicated to the development and production of aerospace technologies.

Increased Production Capacity

To meet the growing market demands, the production of Naftoseal® aircraft sealants has been expanded. This investment is seen as a significant milestone for the long-term success of the company, allowing it to meet the increasing demand for aerospace technologies more effectively.

Commitment to Aerospace Industry

Langelsheim is one of the largest and most versatile Chemetall production facilities globally. The expansion project is the brand’s largest single investment in the former Hans-Heinrich-Hütte. This reflects BASF’s strategic and long-term commitment to its aerospace industry customers.

Local Impact

The site employs 180 people who support the production of aircraft sealing compounds, anti-corrosive agents, cleaning products, and other chemicals for surface treatment. The Naftoseal® aircraft sealants produced here are internationally accredited through NADCAP, ensuring compliance with global aerospace industry quality standards.
