Partnership and purpose

Danantara Investment Management (DIM), Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) and PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk completed a strategic investment transaction to develop a Chlor Alkali‑Ethylene Dichloride (CA‑EDC) project. The partnership combines the investment capabilities of DIM and INA with Chandra Asri Group's industrial experience, and is positioned to support Indonesia's downstreaming agenda by building local technical and operational expertise.

Project status and timeline

As of September 2026 construction was approximately 80% complete, with main equipment being installed and supporting infrastructure under development. The facility is targeted to commence commercial operations in 2027.

Capacity and intended impact

The plant is designed to produce approximately 400 kilotonnes per annum (KTA) of caustic soda and 500 KTA of ethylene dichloride (EDC). The project is expected to reduce reliance on imports, generate foreign exchange savings, and improve the availability of raw materials for downstream industries, strengthening domestic manufacturing capacity.

Employment

The project is expected to create approximately 3,000 jobs during the construction phase and 250 permanent positions during operations.
