China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. is an international engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor focused on the chemical, petrochemical, and energy sectors. Headquartered in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, it operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation Ltd. (CNCEC).
The company originated as the No. 8 Design Institute under China’s Ministry of Chemical Industry in 1958 and was formally established in 1988. It delivers full-lifecycle services from feasibility studies and engineering design to EPC turnkey delivery, commissioning, and operation & maintenance. Core competencies include salt chemical processes (soda ash, chlor-alkali, caustic soda, lithium salts), natural gas and coal chemical projects (ammonia, urea, methanol, acetylene derivatives), petrochemical downstream units (PVC, polymers, ethylene derivatives), LNG/LPG terminals, power plants, and municipal infrastructure.

It serves major Chinese clients including Sinopec, PetroChina, CNOOC, and Shenhua Group, and has completed more than 40 overseas projects valued cumulatively in billions of USD across more than 20 countries, including Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Brazil, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
With roughly 1,200 employees (over 60% senior professionals), the firm emphasizes digital project delivery, international standards compliance, and technology export. It maintains ISO certifications and has been repeatedly ranked on ENR lists of top international engineering firms.
