PT Chandra Asri Alkali (CAA) is an Indonesian limited liability company established in 2023 and registered in West Jakarta. It functions as a wholly owned subsidiary of PT Chandra Asri Perkasa within the Chandra Asri Group, ultimately part of PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA).
The company is responsible for developing and operating a Chlor Alkali and Ethylene Dichloride (CA-EDC) plant in Cilegon, Banten, designated as a National Strategic Project. Construction, which began in 2025, targets commercial operations in 2027 with an investment exceeding US$800 million (approximately Rp 15 trillion). The facility will produce around 827,000 tons of caustic soda and 500,000 tons of ethylene dichloride per year.
Caustic soda supports alumina and nickel refining for electric vehicle batteries, while ethylene dichloride serves as a key feedstock for PVC in construction and other sectors. The project aims to substitute chemical imports worth up to Rp 4.9 trillion annually and generate export revenues from EDC.
Chandra Asri Group is a leading Indonesian petrochemical producer, pioneering naphtha cracking for olefins and polyolefins. It is majority-owned by Barito Pacific Group (linked to Prajogo Pangestu) with significant stakes from SCG Chemicals and other investors, positioning CAA to strengthen domestic chemical supply chains and industrial self-reliance.
