- The plant's first stage will produce 80,000 tons of potassium nitrate annually.
- The second stage will increase capacity to 160,000 tons per year.
- The project involves Belaruskali and Migao Corporation Limited.
- Potassium nitrate production is valued at approximately $800 per ton.
Project Overview
The first stage of the potassium nitrate production plant in Salihorsk, Belarus, has been inaugurated. This plant is the first of its kind in the country and a joint venture between Belaruskali and Migao Corporation Limited from China.
Production Capacity
The initial phase of the plant will produce 80,000 tons of potassium nitrate annually. Upon completion of the second stage, the plant's capacity will increase to 160,000 tons per year. The production will cater to both domestic and international markets, including China, Turkey, Russia, and the EU.
Economic Impact
The project is expected to enhance the export position of Belarus and improve the investment image of the Minsk Region. The new plant will also contribute to the regional budget and address various social issues, thereby improving the welfare of the local population.
Technological Advancements
The plant employs advanced technology provided by Migao Corporation Limited. While similar plants in China produce around 60,000 tons annually, this facility is designed for a higher output. In addition to potassium nitrate, the plant will also produce ammonium chloride and other products with added phosphorus raw materials.
Future Developments
The second stage of the plant will further expand production capabilities, including the production of potassium sulfate. This development marks a significant step in Belarusian-Chinese business relations and the growth of the chemical industry in the region.
