Plant commissioning and start-up
The oxidation unit of the FDCA Flagship Plant has been successfully commissioned and utility systems and the sugar dehydration unit are already started; commissioning activities for the purification unit are being finalised. Avantium will focus for the remainder of 2026 on full start-up, producing the first FDCA batches, completing qualification and preparing for commercial sales expected to commence at the end of 2026. The remediation programme for titanium welding, completed in April 2026, caused a delay and added approximately €7 million of capital expenditure.
Commercial and licensing momentum
Avantium has secured 22 long‑term offtake agreements and 15 capacity reservations representing more than 150 kilotonnes of future FDCA and PEF. Multiple potential licensing partners across Europe, Asia and North America are engaged in discussions, and the company points to supportive regulatory developments and an updated LCA showing up to 88% GHG reduction for PEF in 500 mL beverage bottles versus PET.
Financial and funding position
Revenue for H1 2026 was €4.7 million (H1 2025: €6.7 million), EBITDA was €-18.8 million (H1 2025: €-18.5 million) and cash stood at €23.9 million on 30 June 2026. An Extraordinary General Meeting is convened for 30 September 2026 to seek approvals related to the proposed equity raise, the NOM loan and headroom for warrants and remuneration plans.
