Carbeau B.V. is a Netherlands-based company specializing in electrochemical conversion of captured carbon dioxide into chemical building blocks using renewable electricity. It was established through the spin-out of Avantium’s Volta Technology platform, effective 1 April 2026, and is headquartered at Amsterdam Science Park.
The company targets initial commercial products including glycolic acid for personal care and industrial applications, and PLGA, a biodegradable polymer. It has secured €35.2 million in funding, with Avantium retaining a 32.7% stake alongside investors such as GKT, Invest-NL, NOM, and Al Baleed Petrochemical.
