Investment and Expansion
LANXESS is investing €60 million to expand Saltigo GmbH's production facilities in Leverkusen. This is the largest single investment in Saltigo since its founding in 2006. The expansion aims to strengthen Saltigo's market position and enhance its flexibility in the custom manufacturing market.
Project Details
The investment will be used to add more reactors to existing multi-purpose facilities and construct two new solids isolation and drying lines. Additionally, a new container warehouse will be built to improve raw material and solvent supply. The facility will also be equipped with a modern process control system to ensure high quality and productivity.
Timeline and Job Creation
Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-next year, with production expected to start by the end of 2017. The expansion is anticipated to create 10 new jobs.
Technological Capabilities
The Central Organics Pilot Plant (ZeTO) in Leverkusen is central to Saltigo's operations. It currently features 70 flexibly connectible reactor modules and 10 solids isolation lines, capable of producing a wide range of products. The ZeTO's technology portfolio includes chlorination, fluorination, hydrogenation, and low-temperature reactions down to -100°C, among others. This portfolio is continuously updated in collaboration with research departments and universities to meet customer needs.
Focus on Agrochemicals
Saltigo's core business revolves around custom manufacturing for the life sciences industries, particularly the agrochemical sector. The Leverkusen site is a major production hub for agrochemicals, with over a third of its plants dedicated to this market. The integrated network at the site ensures reliable supply and disposal facilities, enhancing efficiency for large production volumes.
