Certification and Investment

The new innovation center of the Consumer Specialties Business Unit at the Goldschmidtstraße site in Essen has been certified Gold by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). This certification confirms that the building meets over sixty criteria across six areas, including ecological and sociocultural quality. Evonik invested close to €17 million to ensure the center meets both internal and modern ecological standards.

Building Specifications

The innovation center covers a total area of 5,000 square meters over five floors. It includes research and development laboratories, office spaces, and a separate workshop area designed for collaborations with customers. The building's design and construction emphasize sustainability, reflecting the company's commitment to resource efficiency in energy, water consumption, and materials used.

Focus on Cosmetics

Approximately ninety employees work at the center, primarily focusing on innovations for the cosmetic industry. The center is dedicated to researching future technologies, testing new solutions, and advancing existing products. Sustainability is a guiding principle in the development of new products, which is mirrored in the planning and design of the new laboratory building.
