The expansion boosts capacity from 14,000 to 74,000 metric tons per year. Additionally, BASF will enhance compounding capacity for Ecovio, a derivative of Ecoflex.

Product Information

Ecoflex is a biodegradable plastic with properties similar to conventional polyethylene. It is fully biodegradable under industrial composting conditions, meeting the DIN EN 13432 standard. Ecovio, which is derived from Ecoflex, contains up to 75% renewable raw materials. Typical applications for these materials include shopping bags, organic waste bags, mulch films for agriculture, and food packaging.
