EBN (Energie Beheer Nederland B.V.) is a Dutch state-owned company that represents the government’s interests in the subsurface. As a non-operating partner, EBN co-invests in exploration and production of natural gas and associated infrastructure onshore and on the Dutch Continental Shelf, and supports responsible decommissioning and re-use of facilities.
Aligned with the Netherlands’ energy transition, EBN provides geological expertise and risk-sharing capital for low-carbon developments, including carbon capture and storage (CCS) and geothermal energy. EBN is a joint-venture partner in Porthos, the Rotterdam CO2 transport and storage project that will move captured CO2 to depleted North Sea gas fields for permanent storage. Through its portfolio and partnerships, EBN helps maintain energy security while enabling the shift to lower-carbon industrial processes and sustainable use of the subsurface.
