Gasunie & EBN ready Aramis for FID and execution leadership
- Parties aim to take Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2027 and be operational in 2030.
- Recruitment for a new Project Director has been initiated to secure execution leadership ahead of FID.
- Dutch government granted final project permits for Aramis, though an appeal against the permits is pending.
- Aramis holds PCI status, received a CEF subsidy from the EU, and links the cross-border CO₂ network between Germany and the Netherlands.
Project status and timeline
Under a renewed partnership led by public parties Gasunie and EBN, Aramis is advancing toward a planned FID in 2027 and aims to be operational in 2030 to contribute to climate goals and a sustainable industrial future.
Development milestones
Since April 2023, the programme team completed the technical design, launched key procurement activities and further developed the Aramis organisation. Commercial development and close collaboration with cross-border industry and government stakeholders have strengthened the project value chain.
Permits, funding and network role
The Dutch government granted the final project permits (pending irrevocable status) while an appeal remains outstanding. Aramis holds PCI status, has been awarded a CEF subsidy by the EU, and is positioned as a key link in the cross-border CO₂ network between Germany and the Netherlands.
Leadership transition
Gasunie and EBN have started recruiting a Project Director to ensure execution leadership is in place well before FID. Current Programme Director Annemarie Manger will remain in role to support a structured handover and continue supporting the development of the value chain until transition.
