Chemiepark Knapsack

A new plant will convert PET waste into reusable materials, supporting a fossil-free, circular economy at Chemiepark Knapsack, with operations starting in 2026.

The project studies CO₂ capture from waste incineration, aiming for climate neutrality. Success depends on political and financial support.

Production will end by 2025 due to economic reasons. Jobs will be retained until then. The company will source from third-party suppliers and focus on next-gen solutions with lower application rates.

The hub will feature advanced sorting and recycling, covering 20 soccer fields, starting in Q1 2026. It aims to support the production of 2 million metric tons of recycled polymers annually by 2030.

The Knapsack site now has a total annual capacity of over 200 kt, supporting demand for lightweight polymers in automotive and electrical applications, adding 12 jobs with the new production line.

Investing double-digit million euros, CABB aims to enhance production and storage capacities by 2019, boosting flexibility and reliability for global customers in specialty chemicals.

A new plant in Hürth-Knapsack, Germany, will double production capacity for Exolit® flame retardants, meeting rising demand since 2004. New products target electronics, furniture, and construction.
