Technip Energies Secures FEED Contracts for INPEX Abadi LNG Project

Key highlights
  • The Abadi LNG project will deliver 9.5 million tons of LNG annually.
  • The project includes carbon capture and storage technology.
  • The development supports Indonesia's net-zero CO₂ emissions target by 2060.
  • The project contributes over 10% of Japan's LNG imports.

Project Overview

Technip Energies, in partnership with JGC, has been awarded two FEED contracts for the INPEX Abadi LNG project in Indonesia's Masela Block. The project is a significant development in Indonesia's energy landscape.

Contracts Details

The first contract involves engineering a gas Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Abadi gas field. The second contract focuses on designing an onshore Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility, including two LNG trains and supporting infrastructure.

Technological Integration

The project incorporates carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, aligning with Indonesia's goal of achieving net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2060. CO₂ captured from the dry gas will be reinjected back into the well.

Production and Impact

The Abadi LNG project is set to produce 9.5 million tons of LNG annually and an additional 150 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas for domestic supply. This development supports Indonesia's energy ambitions and contributes over 10% of Japan's LNG imports.
