About SKK Migas

SKK Migas (Satuan Kerja Khusus Pelaksana Kegiatan Usaha Hulu Minyak dan Gas Bumi) is Indonesia’s government special task force responsible for managing upstream oil and gas activities. Established in 2012 following the dissolution of BPMIGAS, it operates under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to represent the state’s interests in exploration and production and to maximize national benefit from hydrocarbon resources.

SKK Migas oversees Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) with petroleum contractors, approving work programs and budgets, field development plans, and procurement. It supervises exploration, development, production, and lifting; monitors cost recovery and local content; enforces health, safety, and environmental compliance; and coordinates permitting and data management across Indonesia’s oil and gas blocks.

By guiding project execution and gas monetization, SKK Migas plays a central role in Indonesia’s LNG and natural gas supply, influencing feedstock availability for power and petrochemical industries and shaping the country’s broader energy strategy.
