About SKK Migas

SKK Migas (Satuan Kerja Khusus Pelaksana Kegiatan Usaha Hulu Minyak dan Gas Bumi) is Indonesia’s government task force responsible for managing and supervising upstream oil and gas activities on behalf of the state. Operating under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and formed in 2012, it administers production sharing contracts (PSCs) with domestic and international contractors, oversees exploration and production performance, and helps secure state revenues from the sector.

Its core functions include evaluating and approving plans of development, work programs and budgets; monitoring project execution, lifting, and sales in line with domestic market obligations; and coordinating permitting and stakeholder engagement. SKK Migas also enforces health, safety, environmental, and local-content requirements and manages subsurface data and reserves reporting. Through its oversight of upstream gas developments, it plays a key role in supporting Indonesia’s gas supply and LNG projects, with downstream implications for energy availability and petrochemical feedstock in the domestic market.
