Project scope
INERATEC and Ramboll are advancing the ERA ONE power‑to‑liquid plant in Frankfurt‑Höchst by adding an upgrading unit that will convert synthetic Fischer‑Tropsch crude into standard‑compliant aviation fuels directly on site. The teams have completed the Pre‑FEED phase and are currently working on the FEED for the expansion.
Technical approach
The planned upgrade will integrate isomerization, hydrocracking and distillation into ERA ONE's existing production infrastructure to produce certified e‑fuels, specifically drop‑in capable e‑SAF, from the plant's synthetic hydrocarbon output.
Partnership and funding
Ramboll contributes international engineering, planning and PtX experience while INERATEC supplies its modular power‑to‑liquid technology. The project receives support from Breakthrough Energy Catalyst and the European Investment Bank to accelerate commercialization and deployment.
Strategic impact
By adding upstream upgrading, INERATEC increases technological vertical integration, enabling conversion of captured CO2 and green hydrogen into usable aviation fuel within a single platform.
