Nowega

About Nowega

Nowega is a German transmission system operator (TSO) for natural gas, managing a high‑pressure pipeline network in northwest Germany. It plans, operates, and maintains transmission infrastructure and provides regulated transport capacity and related system services for shippers, distribution networks, storage facilities, and industrial consumers.

As part of Germany’s energy transition, Nowega is involved in repurposing and expanding pipelines to carry hydrogen. In collaboration with partners including Gasunie, Thyssengas, NWO, bp, and Uniper, it is contributing existing assets and planning new H2 connections to link import and production sites around Wilhelmshaven with industrial centers such as the Cologne chemical region and Salzgitter. These projects are intended to integrate into the emerging national hydrogen backbone and support a reliable, market-based supply for industry.
