Mitsui Chemicals and Prime Polymer Launch New PP Compounds Company in Netherlands

New European Production Base

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. and Prime Polymer Co., Ltd. have announced the establishment of Mitsui Prime Advanced Composites Europe B.V. in the Netherlands. This will be Mitsui Chemicals’ first European production base for polypropylene (PP) compounds, with operations set to begin in June 2020.

Global Operations

The Mitsui Chemicals Group currently operates eight production bases worldwide, including locations in Japan, the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Thailand, China, India, and Brazil. Additionally, the Group has five research bases in Japan, the U.S., Europe, Thailand, and China. These facilities support the production, sales, and R&D of high-performance PP compounds.

Rising Demand for Lightweight Materials

Stricter environmental regulations have increased the global demand for lighter automobiles. Consequently, the need for PP compounds, which help reduce vehicle weight, is growing annually. These compounds are used in various automotive components such as bumpers and instrument panels.

Strategic Expansion

By establishing the new company in the Netherlands, Mitsui Chemicals Group aims to enhance customer support in Europe and strengthen its global network.
