Uniper and Arcadia eFuels agree 40,000 t/y eSAF offtake for Project Endor

Key highlights
  • Uniper will purchase 40,000 metric tons of eSAF annually for more than ten years from Arcadia eFuels’ Project Endor in Vordingborg, Denmark.
  • The agreement is legally binding, but deliveries are conditional on agreed conditions precedent and the facility commencing commercial operations.
  • Current planning foresees supply beginning in the early 2030s, with the annual volume equivalent to fuel for roughly 1,000 Boeing 787‑9 flights between Düsseldorf and Abu Dhabi.
  • Arcadia’s Power‑to‑Liquid eSAF uses renewable electricity, on‑site green hydrogen and captured CO₂, and can achieve up to 98% lower lifecycle GHG emissions versus conventional jet fuel while aligning with EU SAF rules.

Agreement details

Uniper will offtake 40,000 metric tons of eSAF annually from Arcadia eFuels’ Project Endor in Vordingborg, Denmark, under a legally binding contract extending for more than ten years. The deal was signed in Düsseldorf in the presence of Mona Neubaur and Anette Galskjøt.

Timing and conditions

Commencement of deliveries is subject to agreed conditions precedent and the eSAF facility reaching commercial operations; current planning foresees supply from the early 2030s. The contracted annual volume equals the fuel needed for about 1,000 Boeing 787‑9 flights between Düsseldorf and Abu Dhabi.

Technology and emissions

Arcadia’s Power‑to‑Liquid eSAF is produced using renewable electricity, self‑produced green hydrogen and captured CO₂. Compared with conventional jet fuel, the fuel can yield up to 98% lower lifecycle greenhouse‑gas emissions and is designed to comply with EU SAF frameworks including ReFuelEU Aviation.

Market and strategic context

Parties characterise the deal as one of Europe’s largest announced eSAF offtakes, intended to de‑risk Project Endor, accelerate construction and establish European eSAF supply. For Uniper it secures an early position in a market expected to expand as aviation seeks scalable decarbonization pathways.
