Contract and scope

Técnicas Reunidas’ Canadian unit, TR Canada E&C, has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for Phase 2 of the Coastal GasLink pipeline in British Columbia. The scope covers detail engineering, procurement and construction management for five additional compressor stations and modifications to existing and planned facilities along the pipeline route. The contract value exceeds €200 million and the expected execution period is over four years.

Execution model and recent milestone

Phase 2 will be delivered through an integrated execution model: LNG Canada will lead project construction as Phase 2 Execution Manager, TR Canada E&C will provide EPCM services, and Coastal GasLink will remain the pipeline’s owner, operator and permit holder. The award follows LNG Canada’s Phase 2 Final Investment Decision reached weeks earlier.

Prior work and Canadian presence

The award builds on Técnicas Reunidas’ previous consulting and FEED work on the project. The company has been present in Canada since 2012, operates a permanent Calgary office with resident engineering teams, and has completed more than twenty technical studies and EPC projects for major Canadian clients. Its midstream track record cited includes about 30,000 km of pipelines and over 35 large compression projects worldwide.

Strategic context

The contract reinforces Técnicas Reunidas’ focus on North America under its SALTA Strategic Plan and follows another recent Canadian EPC win for a power generation facility serving a major META data centre and AI hub. The company has identified a pipeline of potential North American projects worth €28 billion, including multiple large combined-cycle power plants targeted at rising energy demand from data centre development.
