LNG Canada Development Inc. (LNG Canada) is the project company developing a liquefied natural gas export facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. The joint venture is led by Shell alongside partners PETRONAS, PetroChina, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS). Phase 1 is designed for two liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of roughly 14 million tonnes per annum, with provisions for potential expansion. The site includes gas treatment, LNG storage tanks, and a marine terminal to load carriers for Asia-Pacific markets.
Feed gas for the facility is expected to be sourced from Western Canada and delivered via the Coastal GasLink pipeline. The project incorporates measures to reduce emissions intensity relative to typical LNG facilities, including use of British Columbia’s hydroelectric power for certain operations. LNG Canada is one of the largest energy infrastructure developments in Canada and remains focused on reliable, large-scale LNG exports.
