SONATRACH subsidiaries sign three MoUs with Niger's SONIDEP

  • The three MoUs follow a SONATRACH–SONIDEP framework MoU signed on October 1, 2024.

Ceremony and attendees

The signing ceremony brought together Algerian and Nigerien officials and company leaders, including Mohamed Arkab, Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons; Hamadou Tini, Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of Niger; Nour Eddine Daoudi, Chairman and CEO of SONATRACH; Colonel Ali Seibou Hassane, General Director of SONIDEP; and the chairmen and CEOs of SONATRACH’s subsidiaries.

MoU — seismic acquisition

The first MoU, between the National Company of Geophysics (ENAGEO) and SONIDEP, covers seismic acquisition and the processing of seismic data on Nigerien territory.

MoU — drilling joint venture

The second MoU, signed between the National Drilling Company (ENAFOR) and SONIDEP, concerns the creation of a joint venture to undertake oil and gas drilling works in Nigerien territory.

MoU — distribution, training and bitumen JV

The third MoU, between the National Company for Marketing and Distribution of Petroleum Products (NAFTAL) and SONIDEP, covers cooperation on petroleum product distribution, the construction of filling centres, and training, and includes creation of a joint venture for the manufacturing, formulation, distribution and storage of bitumen.

Context

These three agreements build on the memorandum of understanding signed between SONATRACH and SONIDEP on October 1, 2024, and are intended to expand the partnership and strengthen economic cooperation and strategic ties between Algeria and Niger.
