Saipem wins $1bn offshore T&I contract from Azule Energy for Greater PAJ, Angola
- Contract awarded by Azule Energy subsidiaries (JV owned by Eni and bp) worth USD 1 billion and lasting around 40 months.
- Scope includes engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of approximately 180 km of rigid pipelines and subsea facilities at water depths up to 2,000 m.

Contract award
Saipem has been awarded an offshore contract by Azule Energy Exploration (Angola) Limited and Azule Energy Angola B.V., subsidiaries of an incorporated joint venture owned by Eni and bp, for the Greater PAJ project located about 200 kilometres off the coast of Angola. The contract is worth USD 1 billion and has a duration of around 40 months.
Scope of work
The scope covers engineering, fabrication, transportation and installation of roughly 180 kilometres of rigid pipelines and subsea facilities at water depths reaching up to 2,000 metres. It also includes transportation and installation of 38 km of flexible flowlines and jumpers and 54 km of umbilicals.
Execution and local content
Fabrication activities will be carried out at Saipem’s Ambriz yard in Angola with involvement of local companies and workforce. Saipem plans to use its construction vessels FDS and Castorone for the offshore installation campaign.
Project significance
The Greater PAJ development is described as one of the most significant ultra-deepwater projects in sub-Saharan Africa; the award reinforces the collaboration between Saipem and Azule Energy and Saipem’s presence on complex offshore projects in Angola.
