April diesel S-10 record
RNEST produced 385 million liters of diesel S-10 in April, surpassing the previous record of 373 million liters from July 2016 and rising about 60% year-on-year from 244 thousand m³ to 385 thousand m³.
Capacity increase from 2025 revamp
The 2025 Revision and Expansion revamp raised RNEST's processing capacity to 130,000 barrels per day, enabling higher refined-fuel throughput.
Investments and timeline
Petrobras is investing about R$12 billion to complete train 2 and perform maintenance on train 1, which will add 130,000 b/d so RNEST reaches 260,000 b/d by 2029; the expansion is expected to increase diesel S-10 output by some 88,000 b/d and boost gasoline, LPG and naphtha production.
Strategic impact
The production and capacity gains are intended to reduce imports and strengthen national energy security amid global geopolitical tensions; the 2026–2030 Business Plan allocates US$15.8 billion to the refining, transportation and commercialization segment for modernization and expansion of higher-value and lower-carbon products.
